Let me revise this posting. The late John Sullivan's stash of wood is what will be offered for sale as per the link above.

Thanks Bill for getting the word out to the mando community....
This is turning into quite the event....
We'll be having an auction of John's wood stash next Saturday, May 30th, in Portland, OR.
Some hi-falutin' musical guests will be on hand to give inspiration and levity to the affair...
PM me--or better yet--email me from the Orcas Island Tonewoods site if you want to be included on the email list....
Details on the auction site will follow...
Or keep an eye out at this site....
Thanks all...
Darn, I can't make it! If anything doesn't sell, you know where to find me...

Wish I could come but a combination of having to work the store that day & lack of funds makes it unlikely.

Bummer...
Looks like we've got some great musicians lined up to give us a little inspirational music on their Sullivans...
Greg Clarke for one...
Come on by if you're in the area, even if you're not a builder....
Should be a nice little tribute to John...
Again, the info about the event is here...
Wish I could come too, but I'm on the other side of the pond.

We made the two-hundred mile trek to Portland on Saturday to see everyone and to support Bruce and Patty in the sale of the John Sullivan wood “stash”. The venue was very classy and comfortable and we had a very nice time. There was some great picking most of the day and several outstanding Sullivan mandolins in the mix. I couldn’t resist putting the Hacklinger gauge on one of them. Although it’s been a couple years this must have been very hard for Bruce and Patty. Everything was extremely well organized and everyone was in good spirits. Along with passing John’s wood collection on to other luthiers there was a definite element of celebrating his work.
I didn’t have expectations about buying wood but once it started going I couldn’t resist. I spent most of my money on an awesome red spruce mandocello top, it will be my first. As always, Bruce was a blast to hang out with as well as Chris and Geoff (great pickers BTW) and I really enjoyed spending some time talking with Patty.
Here are a couple of pictures and as you can see, it was a formal event. Pictured are Bruce, Chris Standridge (Carver Mandolins) and Geoff.

Thanks for that, Gail...
And thanks to all for coming and supporting John and Patty....
The music was great (Greg Clark, Jon Neufeld, Caleb Klauder, all on their Sullivans) and lot of good mandolins were getting passed around, including 5-6 of Gail's...
Nice to see John's wood going to some new hands to be made into instruments...
A very small percentage of the stash was sold, so I'll be offering it up on my website in the next few days or so for all you folks who don't live in the Northwest and were not able to attend the sale...
Stay tuned, and thanks!...
G'day Bruce
Any Red Spruce left over? That stash of Red I got from you around 10 years ago is the best investment I ever made. Still working through it and the sounds I get are still getting better.
