    Nope....

Laminate. Pressed rather than carved. Painted on white "binding".

May have a similar to a Strad-o-lin vibe and mojo. If it plays in tune and holds tune, and the neck is true it could be a good beater. It'll have its own voice different from other mandolins. If it's in great shape it may very well be worth the money to you. I paid $100 for a Stradolin that really needed a neck reset. It sat in a case under a bed for a year then I traded it even for a playable L&H budget bowlback. Best trade I ever made.

Kay was one of the first companies to use laminated tops and backs on their mandolins and arched top guitars. Generally the neck joints are awful, but if this one hasn't separated by now it's probably OK. For this model Kay that's way above the market value. Take a look at the third page down on this book. There's an article about Kay pioneering plywood lamination.

Plywood; big thick neck; clunky non-adjustable bridge.

I'd pass, but $200 doesn't go too far these days. On the other hand, as Mike E's pointed out in this thread, coupla Fullerton Gloucesters in the classifieds for $200 each. IMHO they offer a lot more mandolin for your two bills.
