    Thumbs up Marty and RFD

Just thought I would let ya'll know that while surfing the channels last night I happened on The Marty Stuart Show on the RFD channel. Are rea down home, pleasurable show @900p. Kinda filmed in the old vein. Great stuff...sorta like the Opry on a much lesser scale. Even had Eddie Stubbs as the announcer. A highly recommended show. Check your local listings for the next show.

Yep, I like the Marty Stuart show. They also show Hee Haw, which brings back good memories. Saw one from 1970 last night. The Wilburn Brothers Show, although havent seen in a while, is also a good one.

You should have seen it the week before Scotti. The guest was somebody called the Del McCoury Band. They weren't half bad and that young feller playing the mandolin just might amount to something some day if he keeps at it!!!

I caught Mr. Bill on the Wilburn Bros. show a week or so back. He only did 2 tunes since they were running late for a gig! Back in the days of "Live" shows!
I agree about Marty Stuart's show, very old school, walk out, play, make room for the next act, not a lot of time wasted

I'll be tuned in -- never miss that show. Did you buy the first year highlights DVD? I'm thinking I probably will. The show is really great.

Another thing they show on RFD-TV is get togethers of some of the oldtime "Country" performers, it`s on Sat nights at around mid-night, hosted by Bill Anderson...Alot of good old country music and stories on that show....I think it is called "Country`s Family Reunion"
They sometimes show a bluegrass version of it....when bluegrass was "Bluegrass"......Willie

The Wilburns Bros Show and the Porter Wagoner featured bluegrass acts from time to time. You will see vintage Jimmy Martin, Osborne Bros, Lester Flatt, Jim&Jesse, Mac Wiseman as well as Monroe.

I don't want to go OT but yes the Wilburns show was great. Do you recall the show were Monroe says, in effect, to the brothers about why no bluegrass players were at some show..."well you country guys might not have thought us bluegrass players were good enough?" They all laughted and I was clearly a joke but there seemed to be a little bit of an edged to it?

I saw Marty Stuart at a concert at the Birchmere. The Quebe Sisters were the opening act. OMG.

When Marty came on, he asked for another round of applause: "How 'bout those Quebe babes!"

Finally watched the Marty Stuart Show tonight. My daughter gets RFD on her satellite, but every time I visit the polka shows are on. Got her to DVR it - the Quebe Sisters were on, and I immediately became a fan.

I saw the Quebe Sisters 3 nights in a row last summer. They swung through NC & Va and performed in Union Grove, NC, then at the Blueridge Music Center and ended up at the Wayne Henderson Festival. They were great all three nights!!
They're backed up by great rhythm guitar (using all those chords with numbers in them ) and great bass playing. See their web page for details.

(Wish I could get Marty's show on RFD without buying a bazillion other channels I don't need.)

With the Quebe Sister's is Joey McKinzie on the archtop. He's a champ. fiddler, that taught those girls.
He's the real deal. Why is it the best guitar seconds are the best fiddlers first?

Marty and his band played an instrumental featuring his marvelous mandolin playing on tonight's "Marty Stuart Show". Eddie Stubbs announced it as "Marty Stuart Visits the Moon".
    Jaw dropping stuff.
If you get RFD and you'd like to catch it, this episode will be repeated tomorrow morning at 10A eastern on RFD-TV.

I listened to Marty tonight on the Opry Live and he tore into a 5 minute mandolin solo which came through clear channel 650 pretty strong and stout sounding. An amazing picker on mandolin and guitar.

Mr Goist...I heard Marty play that song and I`ll say this, that is one song that I don`t think anyone can/will copy...I don`t even think he really could play it again like he did that time....Many, many notes and for me it was so complicated but he made it worth listening to...He is for sure a great mandolin picker....

I had the thrill of catchin marty with the Fabulous Superlatives at Greyfox at the old venue. It was either the last or next-to-last season there. Jaw-dropping chops to say the least!

When you see how little people are at those polka shows then you realize there is no market for it. That really is a dying music form.
