What instruments do you want THAT YOU COULD REASONABLY EXPECT TO SOMEDAY GET? (I don't want everyone saying "I want one o' dem dere Loars...)
For me:
Vega cylinderback
Gibson EM-200
Medeiros Travel Mandolin

Gibson F4 anywhere from the late teens through the 20's. I'm still saving.

2006 Gibson F5 Goldrush

I'm on the waiting list for an Old Wave oval A, and a Mowry 2-point. I'm not worthy, but they didn't ask me that. I hope the OW sounds like the best snakehead, and the 2-pt sounds like Sharon Gilchrist's red mahogany vine inlay Gilchrist. (No pressure Andrew!)
Spira OM, Eastman Bacon (Dawg #2), Wishnevsky mandocello. If I'm really flush, a Labraid bowlback would be the icing on the cake. A 4 string e-mando might be fun too. Commodium, mandobanjo. Every time I think the list is done, another pops in my head. D'oh dola!

That amber colored Kimble in the classifieds.
There are three kinds of people: those of us that are good at math and those that are not.
1. F-style Weber with a black front and red back with nice wood. Cool bindings wouldn't hurt but I am not going to be picky. Any model will do. Tone bars and F holes.
2. A-Style Collings to match. Probably with an oval hole and tone bars.
3. Breedlove Quartz OF to abuse on a daily basis. I mean toss it around, leave it on the couch, take it to the toilet when I go, and play it so hard that that people in Oregon feel it. I have my eyes on the one I want right now if she is still available. One dream at a time baby...one dream at a time.
Hhmmm.....I already have a great ff hole mandolin. So that just leaves a really good oval hole.
It'll be here next week.....

A nice old Gibson 3-point. I especially like Dan Beimborn's blonde with the torch and wire.
Second choice would be an early black top A-4.
1919 Gibson A3
1920 Gibson A2
1937 Gibson K1 Mandocello
2015 Eastman Bowlback
Im buying a poe next, which i will never sell... Then start saving for a bentrup eclipse
Bowl-back mandocello.

HMMM ! At this point in time i would say a blonde 3 point Ellis f-5 but i don't think he would build one for me so probably not a reasonable expectation. dream on. other than that a Brentrup oval or F, yet to be determined..

If I could...
I would get a nice F from Lynn Dudenbostel and have him put "The Dude" on the headstock.
Life would be complete.
It's validating to see two instruments I already have on other people's lists, the Mederios Travel Mandolin and the Old Wave Oval A. It makes me think I should count my blessings and be more grateful for what I have. Thanks, everyone!
But MAS is a cruel mistress, never allowing her victims complete satisifaction with the mandolins they own! Someday, I plan to get a National Resonator, a nice Irish tenor banjo and a top-notch "blarge" Irish bouzouki. If I really hit the jackpot, I'd add a Collings MT2V, a Mix A5 and a Ryder custom 5-string synth-electric, but I might not get to those in this life!
I'm lusting after that Neil Dean two-point in the classifieds. Anyone played one of those?
Either a Gibson A Jr. or A-, depending on the year. Year not specific. Good tone. Prefer well used, but not needing any additional work. Prefer brown over pumpkin.
Oh, and the toughest part - "reasonable" price.
That's been my main lust for years. Even during the times when I wasn't playing mandolin. Have probably tried close to 100 over the past 20 years. Only one met the criteria. And, of course, at that point, I was broke.
If I keep playing mando this year, one might find it's way home by the time of my birthday in October.
And if not, I'm still awfully happy with my Mid-Mo M-0.
Gibson A-Jr.
Ellis F-5
Collings Varnish
Kimble A
Weber Fern
Steven E. Cantrell
Campanella A
I would like to get a Weber Yellowstone F model mandola, then a Yellowstone or Fern F both in the Weber Desert Dawn finish and matching arm rests from Doug Edwards. I'm just sold on Weber's.

The early '90s Flatiron F5 Artist model that's sitting in Lark St. Music in northern NJ. Radiused fingerboard, Brekke bridge, Bruce Weber-signed. It looks so good, feels so good, makes me sound so much better than my paltry skills deserve. I'm sortta hoping one of you folks grabs it before I have to explain to my wife why I just blew a bunch of paychecks!

One of these days I'd like to try out a Gil.
I need to know the hype....
I'm pretty satisfied with what I have now. That said, I did have a chance to buy an A syle Nuggett once but could not quite pull the trigger with that big price tag. Chuck
If I anonymously receive a bag full of $100 bills -
Wiens F-5 or Ellis F-5
If I live within my means and save --
Austin Clark F-5 or Dan Voight F-5
Gibson 20's A or Mowry A-4
Oh, and if I could dream, a Dudenbostel F-5

Where does he get that fine wood?[/QUOTE] Opie Wan the Sumi's are totally underated i believe, don't ever sell it , not even for an Ellis. The wood he uses is very very old which is why i kinda laugh at the distressing thing supposedly to add age to your tone when you can buy a Sumi which has great age built in.. i'll wait for the finnish to cure. patients is a virtue.. back to the topic at hand , i'll add an Ellis A-5 because it's a more realistic expectation given our puny exchange rate..
