Default Uke tuners on a Mandobird

Just thinking with my fingers here...
Anyone think that uke tuners would work on a Mandobird?
Does anyone make mini banjo tuners?

I was wondering if it might be possible to get a look that's closer to an actual Firebird and maybe upgrade the hardware at the same time.

1:1 friction tuners? I find they only work well with such a short scale in Nylon strings.

longer strings such as a tenor banjo 4:1 planetary tuners are OK with steel strings.

The short scale + inelastic steel string doesn't work together with a friction tuner IMHO.

    Hmmmm,
Maybe I'll just settle for black grovers.

Those 40:1 Steinbergers are trick . they clamp onto the string then pull it down thru the tuner,
as you turn the knob on the back.

only sold in sets of 6 though

They look a little large for a mandobird, but I'm definitely intrigued.
    Thanks Mandroid!
