I get to MDI 5-6 times a year for a few days- though I won't be there until Spring. I usually bring a banjo, mandolin and fiddle with me. Always happy to pick some OT music if that's your interest.

I think the east cost would be a far haul for people from w.Tennessee, Kentuckey etc. It would be easier travel for alot more people if it was mid-east , central. Ashville or Roanke. Main would be far N.E. South Carolina or N. Carolina is perfect.

shorty, i think he was thinking more on the lines of what was happening in southern maine. not as part of the mandolin east thing.

that said we have a lot of good pickers out here and there are a lot of sessions. there is one every other sunday at acoustic outfitters in straham, nh. that is exit 3a (i think) on I95 towards greenland. david surette teaches there on Mondays also. there are some irish jams in dover, nh and also in portsmouth. you can check on the sessions.org website which lists sessions all over the world and there are some listed for our area.

Stephanie - saw this late...good luck with your jam. Being in Kittery Point (whose beauties I will happily match against any in Maine, the unfortunate and delusional remark by Adam (a local no less!) notwithstanding, Buxton's a bit of a drive from the Maine/NH border, maybe an hour each way.

But there ARE a lot of players north of Boston - maybe we could do a summertime weekend get-together, show & tell, etc. Or add our own early day to a popular festival. It's not a weekly jam, but it might lead to some new ones.
