Great player. Classic look.
I can't play like him, but the pencil-thin mustache I can do.

Craig, stop. All you're doing is encouraging my wife on her recent but relentless push for Rogaine...
I thought this was gonna be a tune;like "Happy Birthday Bill Monroe".
Happy 91th,Jacob!
Again, a happy birthday to Brazil's genius of the bandolim.
I never get enough of his playing. His inventiveness on the instrument back in the early sixties is truly astonishing. Sempre Tui is my current favorite. A most spectacular piece of music. And his daughter's loving tribute in the play along book is something that's fun to read. Her mention of his wearing his cap backwards and how now all the kids wear it that way reminds me that there's not a lot new under the sun. Thanks for reminding us of his birthday. Now we can look forward to Carmen Miranda's in February! Always a good excuse for a party!
94 years young. I must play Diabinho Maluco today.

I love the guy - a massive musician with heart, soul, chops and such a quirky approach to rhythm, phrasing, improvisation. Jacob's playing, compositions, improv, bandleading have meant so much to me. Thanks for posting and lots of love from Portland, OR to Al, Doug, Mike, Richard, Jim & Jim, Dudu, Hamilton, Danilo & Maria, Amy, Daryl, Almir, Oliver, Booi & Andrea, David, Zak, Tom and people too numerous to mention who share this love with me, and who I've met through our mutual love of Jacob's music. Happy Birthday Jacob!!!
