    Default Eastwood mandocaster

I had the opportunity to try out a mandocaster in a shop this week. I found it to be well made and well finished. It was set up with a nice close action, consistently along the entire fretboard and it was very easy to play. There was some buzzing on the G course as well as the pick ups did not seem to pick up consistently across all strings. (E course was lower volume than others). The salesman was certain that he could address and fix these two issues.

Someone had mentioned in a prior thread that the mandocaster had a thick and chunky neck. Perhaps Eastwood has changed the neck design because I did not find that to be the case. The neck was small, similar to my acoustic mandolin.

I found the Mandocaster to be more comfortable to hold than the Mandobird, but only played it for a few minutes, so don't know if it will address my numb fretting hand problem I have with the Mandobird.

I plan to go back next weekend and try it again once the setup adjustments are done.

Would you mind telling me the name of the shop?

    Thanks Ted
That little box will not allow me to paste into it so it turns into a process to do it. Now I have to find out how to edit posts.

    Hi Dave
Sorry for the delayed response. The store in Calgary where I tried (& eventually bought) the Mandocaster was Vintage Music. They did some good setup work and I had them put on a new set of strings and now pickup/string volumes seem to be working fine. Don't know if Steve has any more in stock. I think Guitar Connection was also supposed to be getting some in.
