It appears to be some kind of electric mandolin. <sorry>.
On the other hand, if you don't know, Martin, it's probably either a home-built or a luthier's one off. Pretty nice, too, judging by the proportions and inlay.
It's a David Schneider, now that I think about it.
I can remember when Schneider was trying to get $1800-$2K for these. His current prices look a lot more reasonable.

I just ran across this. "trying to get $1800-$2K" I have never ask more the $1000. I made about 12 emandos. No 2 exactly alike. The last mandolin I made was the Double Octave Mandolin.

Well, Dave, I apologize then ... you would know better than I would. I look at lots of electric mandolins and it's possible that I got confused. It's also possible that I saw one of your instruments listed for a higher price on eBay, in which case it could have been someone else trying to sell it.

That's ok. Funny thing is that there is a guitar builder named Dave Schneider (in Ohio I think) and at least two mandolin builder other then me with the last name of Schneider. One of them uses Schneider on the head stock. I guess I should come up with some unique name to use.

You're thinking of Bob Schneider, who builds Schneiders, and Paul Schneider, who builds Summits, I'd guess. Of course they don't build electrics ... their stuff looks nothing like yours. Still, yeah, someone might get confused.
Did Kelly Hill get this instrument directly from you?

I was selling through a Chicago areea music store at the time. He may have bought it through their web site. Or he may have bought it used. I e-mailed the band site. He said he wasn't sure. I hope to have my own site soon. (when I retire from my day job)
