This is John Dickinson (Yonkle) I am sad to say a large brush fire started in Boise last night and spread to nearby homes, including mine. Ten house on my block were totally destroyed including mine, and there was one death.
Long story short, I've lost everything. My shop is gone, all my tools, my mandolins, guitars ect. We got out with our car and our dog and cloths on our backs and thats it.
I have no computer now and have lost contacts too. I had 2 mandolins that were going to be shipping soon to a gentleman named Vince in N.C. and also a gentleman named Jeff # 11 was possibly going to.
Sorry I dont have thier e mail addresses any longer and have lost contact numbers in the fire.
My hopes are Vince and Jeff will see this message, I just want them to know why they may have trouble getting ahold of me or why I may not get thier e mails, I have no home or computer any longer, so I am putting this message on the cafe in hopes they may see it.
The bad news for Vince is # 10 didn't make it out alive,(SO don't send the check) the bad news for Jeff is # 11 didn't make it out either, they are both in mandolin heaven.
Anyway I will be out of business until I get a new home built and a new shop, tools ect. Probably be 6 or 7 months.
So to all my friends I just wanted to give you a update and hopefully hook up with Vince and Jeff to tell them the bad news about thier mandolins.
Sure happened fast. I was in my shop working on #11, I steped out for a break, opened the door and could,nt see a thing but brown smoke. My wife said the hills on fire and I saw flare ups in my pine trees. I turned on the sprinkler system and started hosing off the house and about then a fireman told me to get in my car and drive. Couldn;t find my wife she was looking for the dog. She found her hiding in my shop due to all the sirens. I told her we have to go. About then a cop came in the backyard and yelled real loud to MOVE OUT. 20 min later my house was gone. Lived there 20 years.
Well, time to start over again, with a little luck and God on my side I hope to be building again by new years. They have to rebuild the house from the ground up, nothing left but the chiminey. # # Sincerly John
