Thread: "champion" brand bowlback?

Looks like 1880s/1890s with a simple, small tailpiece that lacks a cover/wrist-rest entirely. Very well-built, elegant, large body with 13 1/2" scale and ivoroid tuners that look to suit the age.

Anyone have info on the brand? Mugwumps lists it as a Maurer brand c.1890s, or as an "EC Lewis" brand with no date. Hmm!

I think the Robert Carl Hartman book mentions Champion as a brand name that the Larson's built under (they built Maurer instruments), but I don't think there were very many Larson built Champions, and I suspect the situation was like many other brands in that instruments came from various sources.
    Can you post a picture?
