Thanks to Andrew for sending me a fretted neck, routed body, hardware, pickguard and a case. I just finished assembling it last night and stayed up till 3am playing crazy, whacked out psychedelic electric mando with special effects and everything.

I used Dakota Red from the 1957 GM catalog and clear coated with nitro-cel lacquer.
I love the pickguard
Andrew's eight string bridge works perfectly. I used my own pickup, a Fender '59 reissue Tele neck pickup, sounds amazing.
I used marine amber tinted varnish for the neck, applied a few coats till I liked the color, then the nitro-cell clear coats to build it up.
Looks very good. Enjoy.

Yes, big frets, the way I like 'em. I have the action set just about the way I do on my acoustic mandolins, maybe a tad lower. I also like to use 11-40 medium gauge strings on it just like on my acoustics.Originally Posted by (beluga @ Aug. 16 2008, 19:06)
Do you have any way of posting sound clips, maybe a youtube video? I think he used to have sound clips on his website, but I can't seem to find them.
"Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man."
I will try to get around to that soon, it has a super clean sound due to the Tele neck pickup that I used as opposed to the humbucker's I heard on Andrew's sound clips. Those sound good too, very loud and punchy but just a little too overdriven for me. Mine sounds a little more like a Danelectro/Rickenbacker/Strat/Tele kinda thing.Originally Posted by (oflynny @ Aug. 16 2008, 19:39)
Nice!! I had a chance to see one of Andrew's Les Paul style 4 stringers a few weeks ago. Didnt get to plug er in but it was great looking instrument. Perfect for the guitar player that wants a matching mandolin.

I just uploaded a video on youtube, it's a bit rushed and sloppy, I don't know how much it will tell about the tone, but at least you can see the funny faces I make when I play. Electromando Vid
Certainly sounds like a mandolin. Good job.
