Mando repair near dayton, ohio?

Hi, all,

I have a 1995 Flatiron F5 that is in need of a partial refret (first seven frets). I would like to have the frets replaced with stainless steel.

I am looking for recommendations for a repairman in the Dayton, Columbus or Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Considering the difficulty of working with stainless steel frets on a bound fretboard, I would like the work to be done by an accomplished repairman.

I realize that this instrument is not "high end", but it's my "baby", and I am willing to pay what is necessary to have the work done right!

Mark Keizer of the Fret Shop in Franklin comes highly recomended...although I think the shop has since closed I believe he can be found in the phone book either in Springboro or Franklin...

Mark Kaiser operates out of a vintage guitar shop in Franklin, Ohio. His website is www.fretrepairbymark.com. You can email him from there. He's on vacation this month (June) but will be back in July--he is HIGHLY recommended. He's worked on both my and my friend's 1920's Larson mandocellos as well as vintage Gibsons. Prices are VERY reasonable and sometimes he can do it right on the spot. He is also able to give you various options and a accurate timeline. On my cello, he was able to find an old strap pin so I didn't have to deal with a bright shiny new one; one wasn't standard originally, of course. Nice guy to talk to, too, no BS. Yvonne is right. You really can't go wrong with Mark. He's the best

Another option for you in Columbus is JThomas Davis He just set-up my Gypsy Renegade and did a phenomenal job. He has been in Columbus for years. Yes I know he's a guitar builder but he's experienced with mandolins both in playing and working on them.
