I don't know, but it seems like everyone I've ever met from Kansas, even non-musicians, STILL seem to know the mandolin crowd there. A few years ago a had a few dates with a neighborhodd woman from Kansas, and it came out that she knew Jeff and Beth Dearinger, of Uptown Mandolin Quartet fame.

Today I had to make a work-related call to Kansas filmmaker Jeff Tamblyn, and just mentioned that I had a few friends there. He asked who I knew, so I said that because I was a mandolinist, I knew a mandolin quartet in Lawrence. He said "Oh, Jeff and Beth Dearinger. They're two of my best friends!" When I dropped the name of our beloved site owner, he said "Oh, sure, Scott's a great guy!"

Does EVERYONE in Kansas know these people?

Everyone is Kansas knows everyone else in Kansas. It's a law.

Can I be an honorary citizen of Kansas? My Gr-Grandfather served with the Second US Volunteers on the Santa Fe Trail in 1865, at Fort Salina, Fort Zarah, and Fort Dodge. Was at the signing of the Treaty of the Little Arkansas. Heck, I even know enough to pronouce the river arKANsas

ngladd - i believe woodwiz will confirm your hypothesis. If he's browsing today. I've recently tested him on this and confirmed it myself. Seeing how KC is on the divide you are so instilled to know everyone in Missouri too.

Not from Kansas, but only about an hour a way in a neighboring state (Nebraska). Truth is, we really don't have much else to do out here, Neil. You can only tip so many cows...
