Somebody wanted to display their editing skills and have a Strokes song play over a Bill Monroe clip. It's interesting. I find that it is in good taste (some people on youtube think it is offensive to bluegrass/Monroe). It's a visual display of the interconnectedness of all music. Great stuff.

I don't think it's disrespectful at all. Kinda funny actually. I'll bet Bill would even get a chuckle out of it.

Cool video editing in my book. The comments are even more amusing.

I think the video is as pointless and empty as it was when I first saw it a year ago -- but since then I have seen a lot worse on YouTube so no big deal.

However, if the whole point was just to demonstrate editing and composition skills for making a video then I guess it shows a some fairly advanced abilities. That I can admire I guess.

It wasn't as horrible as the ones I've seen before, nor was it disrespectful. But it was pointless. He may be wasting his own time. But when he posts it online, he invariably wastes the time of several other people. Then again, what percentage of my internet usage is a waste of time? 75%? And I have been tricked into watching the Wizard of Oz along side Dark Side of the Moon. That was a 2 hours down the drain.

Some of the youtube comments are ridiculous. Why do people get so offended over nothing? It was very impressive, although it was a waste of time. Particularly how the fiddle's left hand wrist movements fit pretty good to the main melodic theme.

Humor, anyone? I'm not certain Bill or his Legacy needs any defense.
NOBODY is above a little parody, or on occasion, ridicule. I believe this would fall under the former - which really should offend no one.

We don't have to like it - of course we don't have to respect Bill Monroe either ( I happen to respect his music and historical importance) or actually respect anyone - but that "ain't" really very respectful.

Still waiting for someone to do a "Jimmy Martin Shreds" video or similar - sorry, someone can Parody a person and still respect them. It's all good.

Probably 97%( my favorite "made up" statistical percentage) of internet time is a waste of time. Every letter we type is one more second we could be practicing or jamming!

Waste of time - Sure! Unfortunately we run that risk with EVERY link posted here or on any other website. Most of the links here are far better than any other site - but I have had plenty other examples of wasted time : "Hey try this book!" or "Have you seen Pearl Harbor ? " That was a waste of time !

Maybe someone who watched the video and has never heard of Big Mon will get curious enough to actually explore his real music - that might make up for some of our lost time? #
