Check out Anthony Hannigan's cross picking video on www.musicmoose.org. On the first video he goes through it verily slowly.

There is also Jesse McReynolds book in pdf. I have that if you need a copy.

I just learned the cross picking version of Wildwood flower from the cafe - which I think is in that book. I recorded my version and put it on my practice blog. Wildwood Flower cross picked

To start out, i practiced the forward and reverse rolls. Then I practiced wildwood flower slowly using just my right hand to get down the picking pattern. Once I got the rhythm down fairly smoothly, I slowly played it with both left and right hands. On the left hand you need to really think about economy of motion so that your melody notes ring out as you shift positions. Finally have it to a reasonable speed.

    Good luck,
    Don

Is it easier to Crosspick in A so you can use the open A and E string? (As opposed to G.....)

I wouldn't mind seeing it if it's the Statman book. I've been trying everywhere to find a digital copy of one.
