Well... this started when I bought a Stradolin project- the back had come loose, and the side was distended from #string pull. #So with kind advice from the builders section, I removed the back and reglued using a form to restore the shape. #
However, this Strad was originally painted, which was now falling off in large chips. So with no other option I stripped the back- only to reveal some stunning plywood! #The back looked so good that I've now stripped the sides and stained it. #I couldn't believe a Strad could look this good. #
So... I had originally intended to leave the front and neck with the original finish as we would normally do, but I thought I'd post to see what y'all's opinion is. #If nothing else you'll probably be amazed at what the Strad-o-Lin folks painted over. I'll need to use a few posts to get all the pictures up. #So should I strip the neck and top, or keep the original top finish? #I'd imagine the sound will be dampened a bit by new finish on that spruce top (by the way, the top is solid spruce- only the sides & back are ply.
