How does one go about putting a mandolin sample on the Cafe? Not a musical interlude, but some mando comparisons. Short MP3's of my Daleys and my Stew-Mac kit 'The Pos'm' (surprisingly better than alright even!)

You don't. From the MP3 page on the Cafe:
" Contact us if you have a commercially available recording and would like your music listed here."
That makes it clear that cuts such as you are talking about are not posted on the Cafe.
You can use something like soundclick.com and post a link.

You could use a number of different file hosting services and link to it via the http:// button. Here is a google search of file hosting.

Can anyone recommend one file host over another. I don't want to randomly choose one since I have no idea if they are legit or not. If anyone has used one successfully, I'd be glad to hear it.

The best, and cheapest, option for hosting is the web space your current ISP gives you for free. Just be sure to keep an eye on the file size limits. See our ISP's web page for further details.
