Thread: Need an "Original" Case for Your Early Gibson Mandolin?

Default Need an "Original" Case for Your Early Gibson Mandolin?

If you have a pre-1914 Gibson mandolin it would have originally had an end-opening leather or canvas case. The hard shell "Faultless" case didn't appear in the Gibson catalog until 1914, and leather cases were still available until the 1917 catalog announced they were being discontinued.

Perhaps you have an early Gibson mandolin and would like to have an original style leather case as part of the "collectible" package, not to actually use. Eric Jay has posted four of these cases on the Vintage Musical Instrument Cases group, and he's practically giving them away. He's just wanting them to find a good home. Two have been taken, and there are still remaining an F-style and an A-style.

I believe there's still one left. These leather cases are not easy to find and you'll never get a deal like this.
