Soft case for trinity college om

I'm a new member and very glad to have found this forum. I'm looking for a soft case or gig bag for my Trinity College OM. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, does anyone have experience travelling with an OM, specifically taking it on an airplane as a carry-on. I'm going to Ireland soon and really want to be able to take it with me.

Hi and welcome!

I really like Blue Heron gig bags, but they're not cheap... Often, gig bags for tenor banjos fit OMs pretty well. Have a look at Elderly and on eBay, be sure to ask for the interior dimensions to fit your TC.

As for flying to Ireland... My instruments are bigger than a TC OM (Crump bouzouki and Santa Cruz gtr), but I wouldn't trust any airline with my stuff without Calton Deluxe flight cases. It's our understanding that Aer Lingus is one of the best airlines for handling instruments. My cases took some scratching, but not much more from them.

There are loads of tales, both inspiring and dire, here in the CBOM, so I'll suggest you search for 'em. OMs are kind of in that 'grey' size area... Fiddles and mandolins often get on as carry-ons, but zouks and guitars less so.

This isn't much help, really... but I'm sure that more is on the way. It might help to start a new thread with a subject line that goes to flying with your TC OM.
