Can't believe it took me this long to find about Hamilton!
Just got his new album and I'm liking it the more I listen to it.
In a 'Hamilton frenzy', I found some vids on YouTube that were pretty cool.
Just thought I'd share a few of them with you. #

that video with chirs thile is hilarious, they are all digging it so much and somehow staying out of each others way even though there are 3 people in the same register.
"And above all, respond to all questions regarding a given song's tonal orientation in the following manner: Hell, it don't matter, just kick it off!!"

    That vid is awesome Larry!

    Two questions:

    • What kind of bandolim does Hamilton play?

    • Are there any transcriptions of "Receita de Samba" available?
I have just started to transcribe it and wanted to see if there were any existing transcriptions around.
I have a Choro book (O Melhor Do Choro Brasileiro Vol. 1) that has some Bittencourt in it but only a couple of tunes.

Mike has a wonderful book of Choro tunes out that includes Receita de Samba. You can get it at Elderly at

Hamilton plays a Tércio Ribeiro 10-string bandolim.

    elmaestro and everyone interested,

if you send me your email adress I could send you a transcription of Receita de Samba. It's a PDF and I don't know how to get it in here.

    Cheers

Judging by how much of a stink the posting (stupidly, by me) of an unauthorized audio clip of Mike and Hollanda created awhile back, that video clip of them from Wintergrass should keep everyone busy for awhile, no?

Watch it while you can before it gets yanked.....

I shot the video myself, and I would happily pull it if Mike, Hamilton, or any of their representatives contact me or post here.

That said, there is a TON of Mike and Ham stuff on YouTube, so I don't really see why my video would be that exceptional. It's not a hifi recording, is not from any Mike/Ham release, and the tunes are traditional (not written by Mike/Ham).

    I couldn't agree more....
