I am a newbie on this forum. I know 5 chords on the Mandolin but I have been playing guitar for 25 years.

I have a question about some Nickle Creek songs that I am trying to track down.

Someone gave me a compilation with a bunch of NC songs and I bought their 2 CD's but I don't see Moon Fleet Beach (?) on either of them. Am I missing something ?

I am also looking for a song with the lyrics #" Don't know why, Tory came by...".

    Thanks in advance.

Moonfleet Beach is on NC's self-released CD Here To There. It's not available in stores or on their website anymore (though it used to be). They say whatever copies left were destroyed. But sometimes you can find it up on eBay...if you REALLY want it though be prepared to spend $100+ on it. That's what it normally goes for...crazy, I know.

And the song you speak of is John Mayer's "Victoria" which is on his "Inside Wants Out" cd (but if you want that one, you're in luck since Columbia re-released it a couple of years ago). For some reason, a lot of those Napster like search engines had it listed as John Mayer + Nickel Creek - but it was just mislabeling.

    Why were the copies destroyed?

embarassment? I don't know... I heard it was because the CD wasn't up to par with the music they were making and it just didn't sound as good. Which I mean, if you compare it with the s/t'd CD, it isn't as good. There are a few strong tracks and such, but not very memorable.

    And thanks

Glad to say that I've got a copy! It's up to my par if you ask me.

Haha, I've heard it before. There are a few strong tracks, but honestly. Considering the vocal progressions of the band from that time to the recording of the self titled, there's a world of difference.
