    Here is my new BRW.
The sound is beautiful with clear trebles and warm deep bass tones.
The workmanship is perfect, Ben is an amazing craftsman.

    Mark:
    Thats is a beaut!

I will try to get to your next local concert to see this one, not to mention to hear you and Judy play again. You still play your bandolim as well, right?

Ben's work sure is beautiful! So, how does it sound, and what do you play on it?

That's really sweet, love the colors. Time for a sound clip!

I'm on Ben's list for a matched mandolin/mandola set and pics like this make the wait that much harder.

Beautiful instrument Mark. The two tone finish works perfectly.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
This mandolin is really alive, the notes pop right out on the initial pick attack and, rather than a bark, there is a full, clear, sweet sound with nice sustain.
(which is the sound I was looking for)

With a medium pick, I was surprised how perfect it sounded for choro and South American music.
A heavy pick produced a sound that I think will be excellent for classical music.
I'll try to record some samples this week if I can locate my minidisc player.

Here is another BRW oval hole that has the same design. I REALLY like the looks of this one too.

Thanks for posting #59's pic, I was having trouble. Mark and I are the only Oval BRW's here, and these are some special sounding Mandolins. Ben's work and customer service is excellent, I sent my 59 back to him for some adjustments, and she was returned quick, perfect, and with out issues. Thanks again Mark, later, dy.

I know what you mean. I have BRW #24 A5, and an oval would create quite a nice pair. Both would be very rare model BRW's.

Strange that Ben doesn't have sound clips on his site of this model as it's rather different.

I think the blonde at the top of the page was in pieces last time I was at Ben's shop a few months ago. I think the sides were in the forms and the top was rough carved. IIRC he told me it was going to be a new oval hole model, I would really love to play one these. He said they have the crack of an F5 but with the subtle open bass response of an oval hole. All of which are traits that I like in a mando...

I was the lucky dawg that picked up #59 when it appeared in the classifieds recently and it should be here in a couple of days. Let the anticipation begin!
