    Ken,
    Both look great, I really like the back of the 2nd one. Is that some more of the old red spruce?
    Are they spoken for?

    Yes Kevin, they are both spoken for. The first one goes to Terry Barthalemew in Cheyenne Wy and the 2nd goes to Rob Baker of the group Newfound Road.

    The tone is really something on these two mandolins. Just the way I like them. THe low end is so powerful, but it doesn't overtake the mids and highs. The way I look at it is like this, if you have a band, and the bass player drops out for a bit, everyone wonders, what happenned to the band.? You've got the bass, the mandolin guitar and banjo, fiddle, it all makes up the sound. Same for an instrument, if you don't have the lows, you don't have a complete instrument. Of course, you've got to have it all, mids highs everything, or it isn't complete. I feel these here do have all that.

    Hi Ken,

    My mandolin turns 5 next month. Not only does it have the bottom end in spades, but in recent weeks the soaring highs (drenched in overtones) have mellowed into a more rounded, sweeter, tone. Its...musical sounding. Some top players have given their approval of the tone of this mandolin, but it now sounds even better to my ear. Thanks to you and Laura.

    To hear a nice Silver Angel in action check out the Spring Creek Bluegrass Band. Good stuff. They were at the Argyle Bluegrass Festival this past weekend.

    {Edited - Corrected the name of the mandolin from Silver Creek to Silver Angel}

    That's some beautiful grain on the back of that distressed one. #You still got an 'in' with a brother or cousin or someone who works in a hardwood sawmill Ken? #
