Hello my fellow mandomaniacs ! I'm looking for some Thile mando tab for Raining at sunset. Went to mandoZine, nothing in the TablEdit files. Beautiful tune.

I'd also be interested in other Thile tunes in tab not in the TablEdit archives. There are lots of good Thile tunes in the archives, just not the ones I get the desire to learn sometimes.

It's at CountryTabs.com, different versions under Chris Thile and Nickel Creek. You have to register, but it's free.
And a bunch of other Thile/NC, too.

found it but only partial tabs, guitar versions etc...I really like Waltz for DeWayne Pomeroy and have been searching for a Tab on that as well. No such luck....

If you have tabledit you can import the midi file and it'll show the tab for you (it won't necessarily be the way Chris would play it though).

I'm still getting through tabbing this at the moment and was tempted to start a thread in the Song and Tunes Projects forum to see if everyone wanted to throw the tabs together to see what we've got. It's such a beautiful tune but it's a bugger to work out.
I'm never speaking up again, it only hurts me.

Alright, so ive downloaded the tab edit program...Is it really as easy as just importing a song file & it tabs it out for you?

I wonder if someone could tell me how to convert an mp3 or uploaded itunes track to the compatable midi files required?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

The midi file for Raining at Sunset is at the link I gave above. In tabledit choose File > New, making sure you choose mandolin from the options given. Then File > Import > Import Midi and choose the midi file you downloaded.

Midis aren't really music files, they are data for electronic instruments (or in this case, the sound card of a PC). I highly doubt you could turn a multi-instrument song into such data.

I made this petition to try to encourage Chris Thile and Sugar Hill Records to transcribe and publish all of Thile's albums. #If you have any interest in getting your hands on some Thile sheet music, please sign this online petition......it takes 10 seconds and is truly hassle-free...no account creating .

    Thank you for your time

Signed the petition. With 78s sheet music was also published. So people could also learn it.
I also remember that lyrics were also published in book form for popular 45s, you could if wanted sing too. Oh the good ole days......
