Just looking for some info on Skip Kelley's mandolins. I have alwayts loved their looks, but have never personally heard one. I am thinking about getting one, but I would love to hear one. Does anyone have any sound clips of a Kelley? Pictures and comments are more then welcome too.

His monte style mando looks killer!!

    Hi,

I've got number 16. Really pleased with it. Woody and loud with an awesome midrange and killer chop with bass growing day by day. No sound clips yet, but I just ordered a mac today and will put some video clips up soon. If you are ever in the NY area and want to try it, be my guest. Most people I play with are pretty impressed.

    If you go to:

Josh Pinkham's Site you will here his kelley on the fisher's hornpipe link. Then you will want to die because he is like 10 at the time....

I've never played one but I agree that Monte-style looked killer. Would love the opportunity one of these days.

I played fellow member jaco's (Mike) Kelley. It sounds beautiful. Very nice mandolin. The tone is wonderful!

I have #12. One piece back, F-style, red spruce top. It is almost a year and a half old and is really starting to open up. I played Josh Pinkham's #5 originally and ordered mine shortly after. Also played #8 which Josh's dad Jeff was using. Their's were obviously older and had opened up much more than mine. Ring like a wooden bell. Skip makes a hell of a mandolin. I am extremely happy with mine.
