I am willing to pay for these tabs if anyone knows where to purchase tab for mando for the common and popular gospel church tunes...

If you have tabedit, you might try importing a midi file. You may have to tweak it a little or import only part of the tracks on the midi but you generally get something you can work with.

Repent, if you want to do it by PM or IM, I am willing to help you with the song. In truth though, it is pretty straight forward and you should be able to pick it up by ear with little trouble. Do you want the melody or just the chords? If you just want the chords, there's probably a guitar tab of it around.

I have the words and chords saved to my Cafe notepad. I'll post them if you want me to.

    Pleeeese!!

Would love the chords and notes. At church we only have music sheets that show notation adn chords for guitar. I'm a newb and have no clue as of yet how to transcribe it, much less by ear. I'm trying to get some gospel songs under my belt so I can play with our praise team

Ask and ye shall receive(Caveat: the chords don't print out at exactly the right spot in the lyrics, but when you hear a change, you should play the next chord. I did not go over this for accuracy, it is copied from a Christian music site, but they look okay:

    SHOUT TO THE LORD
    A E
    My Jesus, my Saviour,
    F#m E D
Lord, there is none like You
    A D A
All of my days, I want to praise,
    G Bm E
The wonders of your mighty love

    My comfort, my shelter,
    Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
    Never cease to worship You

    CHORUS:
    A F#m D E
Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing,
    A F#m D E
Power and majesty, praise to the King
    F#m D
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar,
    E F#m E
At the sound of your name

    A F#m D E
I sing for joy at the work of your hands
    A F#m D E
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand
    A F#m D E A
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You

I can't remember if it's this one or not, but here's a Christian Lyrics Site.

You might try the Mel Bay publication 'Gospel Mandolin' by Bud Orr. #32 tunes for $5, tab, chords, and notation. #It includes a couple of bluegrass gospel numbers - Drifting Too Far From the Shore, Life's Railway to Heaven, This World Is Not My Home.

these chords look like they are for guitar? Are they the same for mando? Excuse my lack of knowledge. I thought they had to be converted to mando I guess?

The guitar and the mandolin are considered "C" instruments. What that means is that music written for either one sounds as it is written except that guitar music is written an octave higher than it sounds, unlike a trumpet, which, being a Bb instrument, sounds a "Bb" when it plays a written "C." You would play the same chords on the mandolin that are written for guitar to play a song. Of course, the chords are shaped differently but they are named the same.

thank you for the clarification. Can you expound on what you mean by "guitar music is written an octave higher than it sounds"

    thanks;

If you played music written for a guitar on a piano, the notes would be an octave higher than they are on the guitar, but they would be named the same.

Here's how i learned it, chords slightly different in a couple spots, but it's what i got from the sheet music. there is also a third verse and chorus that the key changes to 'B' that a lot of praise teams leave off, you just do an additional chorus instead. mandodad@msn

    SHOUT TO THE LORD
    A E
    My Jesus, my Saviour,
    F#m E D
Lord, there is none like You
    A D A
All of my days, I want to praise,
    F#m G D E
The wonders of your mighty love

    My comfort, my shelter,
    Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
    Never cease to worship You

    CHORUS:
    A F#m D E
Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing,
    A F#m D E
Power and majesty, praise to the King
    F#m E D
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar,
    E D E
At the sound of your name

    A F#m D E
I sing for joy at the work of your hands
    A F#m D E
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand

Sorry,i wasn't thinking, "i sing for joy" is the third verse. it is written in 'B' but a lot of people stay in 'A'

    B G#m E F#
I sing for joy at the work of your hands
    B G#m E F#
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand
    G#m F# E F# B
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You

Here's God Of Wonders. We play it in A. But I changed it to G with a capo at 2. It's easier to play and adds some texture. I hope the spacing and formatting come out. If not, I could email. It's just a Word doc.
