Does anyone know where to find the notes/tab to Southern Flavor on the web. This one seems hard to find.

Builder extraordinaire Skip Kelly on this site put out a nice little tab book years ago, had SF, plus some obscure numbers like Daley's Reel, Montgomery Bell (Haynie). Very good job on it, contact Skip to see if he has any left.
Monroe changed the format of 'Southern Flavor' a good bit.
On the album, it was ecorded as a fiddle tune in AABA form; as the tune became more popular, after the album became famous, Bill featured it as a mandolin lead number and made it into a slightly longer tune in AABB format. He liked the popularity of the tune.
it is one of my fav's, I am still at the beginner level so it will be a while til a can play this one, but i keep trying. practice, practice is all you can do.............

another one of my fav is I'm Going Back to Old Kenticy. I can not find the music for this one either. I know thus is a simple 3 chord song, but I am not sure which chords and in what sequence. Any ideas ?

The chord progression for the chorus is:
I I I I # I I V V
I I I I # I V I I
I think the chords on the verse are the same, but it's been quite a while since I've listened to or played the tune.

Southern Flavor-E,E, E, B,E,E,E,B,E,E, G, F#, E, repeated, then D, Em, D, B, stop. E,E,E,B,E, G,F#,E. Hope you get the idea.I love this tune!
I've heard it like Evan says with the walkdown repeated at the end, and like it. My bandmates think it's "wrong". I thought maybe I was wrong. Thanks Evan!

David:
You are welcome.
There are several tunes that changed as Monroe favored them, or not.
Why did he not play a full three part break on 'Ashland breakdown'?
Or play the four parts of 'Jerusalem Ridge'?
You can also find it here: http://www.mandozine.com/music....roe.tef
You'll need tabledit to open it:http://www.sellshareware.com/ProgramInfo.asp?AfID=19329&PrID=5208
I always look to Mandozine first......there are tremenous transcriptions there, many done by Mike Stangland.
A lot of the tunes mando players like are there.....download the free viewer and you're ready to go....
sometimes there are numerous versions, as played by Monroe, Compton, Bush etc. Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced
versions....tons of tunes.
i agree, i have a linux desktop, no microsoft, so i am trying to figure out how to get the music reader software to work.
