Jim, they were all jpgs I uploaded from my computer and did show up normally in the preview.
    Strange.

Ah ... just managed to edit my post and uploaded them all one by one again - all good it seems

Except, now I see my memory failed me as it wasn't the Didone10 string that had the Exhibition award label. I will track down the other post that featured the label that I remembered - I recall commenting on it in a reply.

OK, just checked the Didone thread and while it doesn't mention the Naples Labor Exhibition on the label itself, it was reported in an Italian newspaper of the time:

    SCUOLA DI MANDOLiNO
    Il maestro Nicola Didone, in-
    ventore del nuoto mandolino a
    5 corde, brevettato e premiato
    con medaglia d'oro alla esposi-
    zione di Napoli, garantisce far
    suonare col detto istrumento qua-
    lunque pezzo di musica scritta
per violino, con soli sei mesi di
scuola. Discreto prezzo - Via Ca-
    pocci 22 int, 7.

    Thanks, Bill.

"Il maestro Nicola Didone, inventore del nuoto mandolino a 5 corde..."

This ought to turn over an apple cart or two in an ongoing discussion elsewhere at the MC on the "true identify" of the mandolin.
