Bill Monroes bus

At the Newfoundland ( Pa. ) festival a few guys were jamming with the band after the show was over. They were
invited in the bus for a tour and were told it was Bill's
old bus.
It certainly was an older bus in great shape but I dont
know whether it was his. BYW, they did a great job with
the older bluegrass tunes especially Amazing Grace w/their
fiddle player doing a good portion of it. It brought tears
to more than one person's eye.
Just curious what happens to the Pros busses when they
trade/sell them.

It was only a couple of months ago I saw an add for Bill Monroes old tour bus for sale I think it was in Ohio. said had proof it was his. Asking price was $30,000.

When I saw Sam Bush a couple years ago, he was riding around in Lynrd Skynrd's bus.

I thought that Bill's bus was parked at the entrace to Bean Blossom.

As long as collecting doesn't get to the nasseus level of baseball -- where kids pay extra for baseball cards with a thin slice of someone's bat! If that were the case Steve Perry would make a killing on his Mandovoodoo shavings.

The Heavy Traffic Ahead vehicle was a stretch Cadillac airport limo. Great pictures of it in the Bill Monroe song folio (the one with Bill and King Wilkie on the cover). Not sure when WSM got his first bus. I get the impression he was riding in a car much of the time in the "lean" years. Certainly Del McCoury and Bill Keith have mentioned driving to LA to play at the Ash Grove in a car. In the late 50's he would go out with just Charlie Cline or Joe Stuart and pick up other musicians wherever he was playing (like Del McCoury playing b***o in Balmore).

thistle3585...Unless they parked a bus there within last few weeks, there is no bus parked at the entrance of bean blossom.

There may have been something there for the big festival last week. but there is not one there on display all the time..that would be neat though...By the way, I live in Nashville IN. just down the road from Bean Blossom...and that is my source of this info

Grant, I guess I was wrong. I thought I remembered one parked at the entrance when I was at the show last year. BTW, I thought you were in the metropolis of Helmsburg?

Wasn't there accidental deaths involved with Bill's old bus.....or one of Bill's old buses....as I recall it was one of Johnny Cash's daughters and great fiddler Jimmy Campbell?....carbon monoxide poisioning.

thistle3585 Yes I was in Helmsburg but may of 05 we made the big move to Nashville. There may have been a bus sit there last year, and they may move one in and out. I just know that there is not one there year round...Since I moved from the big City of Helmsburg...Pop.53 to the big city of nashville...Pop more than 53, I rarely go through Bean Blossom...The moved shut down my Dulcimer business but jump started my Music business (as I play 3 days a week sometimes 5 days a week) so closing the dulcimer shop was not a heart breaking moment in my life
