Thread: My IV Kit is done

    I got a bridge today from Cumberland Acoustics, fitted it and strung up my IV Kit. She plays very nicely and with little fret or intonation problems. I thinks she sounds pretty darn good and has a nice chop. In putting this thing together I operated too much time with a "I have no idea what I'm doing" but it seemed to all work out.

    Here is a closeup of the head stock. I inlaid the near star in walnut.

    Here is the back. I am kinda sorry I didn't go for the binding. You have to look really hard to see the wings I added to make the back wide enough. I used alcohol soluble dyes and Minwax antique oil- many thin, well rubbed, coats with 600 grit sand paper between coats.

    Very nice, isn't it fun to build your own? You can always bind the next one, and I'm sure there will be a next one, it's addictive.
