I'm going to need to do something about the pickguard clamp.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Tom,

I live in Portland, OR. It came into to Pioneer Music on Friday. They put new strings on it on Saturday. I saw it and played it yesterday. Hopefully today I'll get around to either adjusting the clamp and/or getting some felt shims on it (it doesn't always rattle/buzz - which seems to be a function of how loud I'm playing and when I last moved the clamp).

If the clamp is loose, you might try suede instead of felt shims. Suede seems to be springier and to permanently compress less than felt and is often a little thicker to start with. And it seems nice and gentle on the finish. I've used suede bought by the sheet from a crafts store.

Thanks Bob - I ended up just taking the guard and clamp off completely - problem solved.
