Thread: string masters

    i went to see the "string masters" on april 4th
    what a great show...
    stuart duncan, perfection in fiddleness
    bela fleck, #always awesome
    sam bush, #rockin it out
    jerry douglas, #fluxin it up, and talking more on stage!
    brian sutton, #im surprised his fretboard wasnt smokin!

    HOWEVER!!
    i had fith row seats, and i could see everything REALLY well, and i swear sam barely played a chord all nite, someone tell me
    what is up with that?!!?!!?
    chopity chopity chop chop all nite....

    I was at that show, too. #It was great - never really thought I would get to see those six guys play together. #Pretty much a dream concert for me. #Due to the generousity of one of my relatives, I ended up in the front row, right in front of Bela. #Have to admit that, being a banjo player, I watched him a lot more than I did Sam, but I did sort of notice the same thing about Sam's playing. #Not sure why he didn't pick more. #I think Bryan Sutton was originally going to handle most of the singing, but his allergies were bothering him so Sam took over. #Don't know if that would have had any affect on his playing or not. Don't really know why it would have, given the emphasis on instrumental pieces.

    Also can't forget Mark Shatz, with his bass/clawhammer/clogging triple-threat performance.

    yeah ive seen these guys play together a few times already...
    sam ALWAYS sings... and for real, could they not play sailinshoes/crossroads? its almost insulting!
    but still a good show haha.
    i have never heard bryan sing a note. thats really weird if he was going to sing at all.
