This is a picture of my R.L. Givens (not Givens Legacy) mandolin I purchased for $20. It is numbered 530 and is equiped with a fishman bridge in perfect working order. I have just gotten into the mando but this mando is way beyond any expectations I had. It sounds great, the sustain is beautiful and the neck action is perfect. Besides it is a Givens Mandolin in great shape which only cost $20!!!!!!

$20?? The case is worth more than that. So what's the story behind it?

How many of us haven't dreamed of finding something like this at a garage sale? #The hard part would be keeping a straight face while we pulled out the $20. #
I met a guy last year that found a Daquisto (or Dangelico?) at a garage sale for $50, he told the guy it was worth a lot more than that but they just wanted to get rid of everything so he gave him everything in his wallet.

Maybe he just got a print of a Givens in a case for $20!

    We need more information, Stringcrazy.

Actually here's the story. I worked at a tow company that did city impounds. One abandoned vehicle came in and was never picked up, it was then leined and auctioned and the posessions cleared out and sold. I was in a first come situation and purchased it from my boss for the $20. I have had the instrument authenticated and apraised for insurance purposes and its real. Check out the label.

No doubt it is what it purports to be... my only concern would be that it was stolen in the first place. Strange that a vehicle was never claimed with an instrument in it.

An old girlfriend of mine had her apartment broken into years ago and her banjo was stolen. It showed up about a month later at a local pawn shop and another friend bought it for cheap. She didn't care at that point since her insurance paid her for the banjo.
