Thread: Post A Picture of Your Tailpiece

We've seen pictures of scrolls and various kinds of mandolins, but I do not remember seeing a thread for pictures of tailpieces. Plus, I just wanted to show off my Bill James tailpiece. So here we go....

Yes, those James tailpieces are DA BOMB!

I'm also a big fan of one piece tailpieces a I think they tend to have less rattle. #Here's a nice one that is on my Fletcher Brock although I'm not exactly sure what kind it is...

I've always thought mandolins are much too curvy to have a square tailpiece, despite years of tradition. So here's mine.

After a long search, I finally got hold of this tailpiece for my Luigi Ricca bowlback (1890s).

Thanks for those, Jim. I've always like those Lyon and Healy tailpiece covers, but I've never seen the one from the Bacon Artist. I like that one too.

I've posted this elsewhere on this site, (and it's not the best quality digital image) but here she is again - the custom-designed (by Ken Ratcliff) cast tailpiece on my Silver Angel mandolin. #(There sure are some beautiful ones on this thread!)

Nothing real fancy...but it does the job on my Terris. Someday I'm going to change it for a Bill James.

Here's old-school in the extreme. These are the four ivory hitch pins set into the tail block of my anonymous French mandolin, ca. 1835:

Wow Jim - Is that an ebony cover with an abalone inlay? WAY COOL! (We've got MAS, and CAS... are we now migrating to TAS - Tailpiece Acquisition Syndrome?) Too many beautiful examples on this thread!
