Thread: Shout out to Bruce Weber

Default Shout out to Bruce Weber

I just got off the phone with Bruce Weber about a mandolin issue that had nothing to do with any of his mandolins. It was a mandolin from another maker that had an issue. By the way, I do have a Weber signed '93 Flatiron A5 Artist that I bought new way back when. Still love it. I have called Bruce twice over the past year or so. He immediately answers, says he's glad to talk about anything to do with mandolins, laughs, etc, and gives great advice.

Just wanted people to know what a great guy he is.

I was doing the humor... poorly, as usual.

    He signed my Flatiron.

I was wondering why that name was written inside my Weber Yellowstone 🤷

    Haha!

On a more serious note... he's terrific! Every communication I've had with him has been wonderful

Makes some really excellent mandolins! I really like my Sweet Pea “backpacker” Weber.

When I decided to pull the trigger on a nice mandolin I was eye-balling a used Yellowstone or Bitterroot that of course sold once I decided to buy it. He told me, you should consider this Gallatin, if I didn't have so many mandolins around I'd keep this for myself. I didn't want a Gallatin, I certainly didn't want the chocolate color. But I bought it. My goodness, it's a monster and the sustain will rival Tibetan prayer bowls. God bless Bruce Weber!

Bruce recently did a radius, refret, transducer mount, & setup for me on another maker's mandolin. It sings really sweet now!

I agree - he is THE MAN! He Remade the top of my Paganoni, before I owned it and was generous with his time, at no gain to him on a mandolin he had worked on, rebuilt, and restored to its original state. Not his original product, but he made it as it should be, and still was open and willing to talk about what he did and why. He is an incredible builder and has as much knowledge about the “old Gibson” way of making as anyone alive who is not with Gibson today. Super cool and incredible guy!!!!

Very cool dude! Bruce did some inlay work for me on my mandolin’s truss rod cover. I was so impressed I sent him a piece of my wife’s vintage jewelry that had a missing bit of Pearl inlay. He fixed that too! Probably not much he can’t fix.

I had a chance to get one of these for $100 once off craigslist. It needed a bridge and was a fairly long drive, so I passed. Probably should have gone for it.
