Default Condino red spruce & Brazilian rosewood octave mandolin

I'm never sure where to post instruments; since I tend to spend the most time in this area, here goes.

This is one from my personal stash that I don't show off very often.

It is a 2014 model that I used for a live voicing demonstration when it was still in the white at the Guild of American Luthier's Convention. Somewhere in the GAL archives, there is a 3 hour video of the process.

1989 Ted Davis red spruce, 50+ year old Brazilian rosewood, 22.5" scale, built around my 16" L5 molds. This was part of a matched set quartet that I built a few years ago all from the same woods, marking my 40th year building instruments. 'Plenty of dust and fingerprints from the workshop.

It sounds and plays as nice as it looks- big & deep and rowdy and nothing delicate about the size or sound! I've got a break from gigs this week, so I'll try to get a sound / video clip uploaded soon.

If you are in the area, stop by to give it a little test drive- you'll like it!

In addition to everything else, I personally dig your design element of the 3 graduated holes. Very tasty.

If that sounds anywhere near as good as it looks, it's a premier instrument. Great looking instrument, James!

That’s really well done! I like the florentine cutaway & the finish is great.
