    Default Calton case w/Tone Guard

I am considering buying a Calton case for my vintage F5, but I won't have an opportunity to try the case before buying. My concern is the Tone Guard. I don't want to have to take the Tone Guard off every time I put the mandolin in its case. Will an F5 with a Tone Guard fit in a standard F5 Calton case?

I have an older Calton that was made in Canada and I keep my Tonegard on my F5G with no problems.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a “standard Calton case” but I had a custom one (UK) built for my Kimble A which I have since equipped with a Tonegard - fits fine.

I was just looking on the Calton site for ordering mandolin cases. One of the questions asked in building your case is whether or not you use a ToneGard.

I have one of the Gibson Signature cases. It is a super tight fit. I haven't tried it, but I sincerely doubt that I could get my F5 in the case with a Tone-Gard on it.

Have both older style and new Calton. Both fit fine with Toneguard

I have the newer Gibson Signature Calton case and my 2002 Gibson MM fits fine with the Tone guard. It was tight at first but is no problem after a year. The tone guard is on in this picture.

I have an '03 Gibson Adam Steffey w/ToneGard in an Austin Calton. As mentioned, tight (for me tight on the sides) at first, but no problem at all.
