Good call on passing, IMO. I had a Squire Strat that I won at a Hospice charity auction that was autographed by the band putting it on. They were local guys, so no $$ value at all, but it was actually a decent guitar. I learned pretty quickly that finger oil would smudge up the ones on the pickguard, and rubbing alcohol got them mostly off, but there was still just the faintest ghost of the signatures hanging out on the lacquer. I got it to where I didn’t get Sharpie all over my pinky when I played but didn’t get into anything more aggressive. Eventually gave it to a friend who wanted to get into it in a downsize move. FWIW, I still notice the ghosts, lol…I wouldn’t begin to try much on a mandolin that expensive…
