    Default Regal on Reverb

This one looks to be a model 248 based on Bob Carlin's books. Also appears the bridge was replaced. And one tuner screw replaced.

No personal interest except I think at this price it's a really good deal for someone.

Also, while Carlin seems to indicate late 1930's for these models wouldn't the worm under tuners indicate possible 1920's construction? (Volume 1, p. 88)

It has rather nice "worm under" Waverly fleur de lis tuners which is odd for a late 30s build- which is what it is- the green Regal logo shows this. It is possible that Regal unearthed a stash of tuners and used them up having saved them for something special. I can see it does not have the elaborate inlays as shown on the board of the 248 in the ad and that bridge is a Regal item- it is a less Ritzy version of the mandolin in the ad, it seems. I have the f hole version- sold by Wards- the bodies are quite wide- or tubby if you like. You can see the same bridge on the arched mandolin to the extreme right. I have uploaded a photo of my Wards mandolin as well- the seller conspired to lose its original bridge prior to shipment.

Green background to the logo- so late 1930s but not so late in the decade to have Kluson tuners, so 1936-1938 would be my estimate. My Regal sold by Wards in the previous post above is about 1936- it is in the 1936 Ward's catalogue.
