    Default Stradolin comparison

Just made a short video comparing my two Strad-O-Lins. Definitely not a pro setup, but at least this should give folks a basic idea of the early and later models.

They both sound great! I like that you made the switch between instruments in real time. It's nice to know that conditions and mic placement are exactly the same between the two instruments. Well done, thanks.

If I didnīt have one like the first Strad, Iīd be green with envy.

What a nice comparison. It is interesting to listen to the different sounds. The first one has a kind of hybrid quality of sound between an F-hole mandolin and an A-hole one. I have a very soft spot for early Strad-O-Lin mandolins. What a fun it would be to try out a bunch of them from the same aera. It is done with the big dogs (Lloyd Loar mandolins, pre WW II Martins, Banner Gibsons). The difference of sound makes for lengthy discussions. Early Strads punch well above their weight.

You've probably seen more than you realize. The vast majority have solid tops.

The first one is all solid woods. The second has at least a solid top. Not sure of the back or sides due to the binding.
