Post Got my first mandolin! Eastman 505cc

I have a Gold Tone Octave Mandolin 800+, but today I got to play my new Eastman 505cc for the first time!

It is great! So easy to fret. I think I'm going to name it Beastman.

Just thought I'd share the joy!

That’s a sweet first mandolin! I really like the finish and I’ve heard great things about those mid-level Eastmans.
I guess I'll just stay right here, pick and sing a while...

Congrats! I am currently shopping for mandolins as well. When researching and shopping for Mandolins, Eastmans are hard to beat, and hard to avoid! They're ubiquitous in the online shops and everyone is giving them VERY high praise for value and tone.

At first I mostly worked on sight reading with a workbook I ordered online. But now I'm going through the courses at Mandolin Secrets Academy so I have learned the simple but catchy "Ode to Joy." That's about the level I'm at, working on fundamentals.

Beautiful! Congrats, and good luck with it!

Is that considered a gloss finish? It looks very much like the satin finish on my Eastman 304, after I buffed it up with some Renaissance wax...

The CC has a matte finish, rounded edges, and no binding.
