After more than 10 years (in three different countries) of trying different small amps to power my emando I have returned to my Ampeg reissue Jet II. And it sounds better than I remember.

Indeed the pickups on my JBovier have more output than the bridge pickup on my 1980s Squier Telecaster.

I'm rehearsing with both, and for the moment I'm balancing signal with the volume pots on the instruments.

The amp might have improved tone because --living in France-- I have to use an external step-down transformer to reduce the output from the wall (240) to a level the amp expects (between 110 and 120). It's possible that the output from the transformer is a bit hotter and more steady than wall sockets in California.

Then again, it could just be all the dust the amp has collected...
