I got the nut lubed cuz the new one was still pinging on E and A. Seems to have helped that. Tuners still sticky and not smooth at all even after being lubed. They hold a tune but they gotta go. I see Grover 409s in my future. My old Korean MK has Grovers and they are silky, as well as my Dean acoustic. I assume the newest models are at least as good.

Anyone know which A style Grovers fit the SA A style headstock? Don't mind drilling an extra hole, just don't wanna have to ream or buy bushings.

Looks like G409s won't work without plugging and redrilling all the screw holes. Post to post measurements are gtg, though. Just checked the measurements against the blueprint on Stewmac.

Anyone put the newer 409s on a Silverangel?

Was just informed the tuners are actually Rubners, which blows my mind. The Grovers on my old Korean Michael Kelly are literally smooth as silk compared to these. I am perplexed ... and I am irritated. Obviously

I thought getting a new nut cut would solve a couple of issues but it didn't. Exacerbated one of the issues even.

For anyone searching later ... as I did when I first got into mandos ... I re-bought all my tools and went over the nut, radiussed it to match the board, lowered the slots, and polished the slots with 1500 wet. Tuners are now smooth as silk. Intonates perfectly, and is loud but still sweet. Loving this thing.
