Oh my Lord, the musicians that came out of that…

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is still one of the most amazing shows I’ve ever seen. It was at the Peace Center in Greenville, SC (back in the 1900s or maybe early 2000s) which is an “acoustically perfect” venue that does a lot of Off Broadway shows, symphony stuff, and then random things thrown in (saw Judah and the Lion there once). That bunch of 70-80s year old men limped out, propped up on their stools, and proceeded to blow the roof off the place for 3 + hours. This video is a great reminder that you never know who you’re influencing and the power of “roots” music. And, just the power of music. Absolutely beautiful.

Danny Barker is a hero of mine. He was no slouch as a songwriter either.

He also wrote Don't You Feel My Leg and Save the Bones for Henry Jones.

What a fantastic little video. I hadn't expected that from the title actually. Terrific. I've just posted it on my Facebook page. As someone who has spent many years trying to encourage kids to play music, that meant a lot to me.
