    Default interesting old flat top with a 'scroll'

    This is for sale locally, I haven't seen it myself but just the pic. Looks handmade, I'd guess. Anyone seeing anything resembling it? Sort of a take on the reverse scroll Regal. Click image for larger version.

    That asymmetrical sound hole is fascinating--reflects the body and head shape--I don't think I've seen that before!

    It does. It looks to me maybe the work of a furniture maker? The scrolls are rather well done and the curves of the body. Looks perhaps heavily built.

    Cary, you are amazing at finding some fascinating mandolins! Very cool. I assume you will go to take a look at it in person. I like the “echo” of the scrolled headstock with the scrolled body and the curves of both plus the odd-shaped soundhole.

    Well, Jim, it's called too much internet. It's actually a couple of hours away and I don't plan to buy it so I won't go see it. Though I'd love to try it. I think he might send me some more pics and if so I'll post them. He wants $400 canadian.
