Here in the Pacific Northwest there are more than a dozen festivals and pickers’ gatherings within a day’s drive of home this summer. As a near-novice I’ll be at several in hopes of absorbing something but which ones they’ll be depends on things like health and family functions.

As another PNWer I plan to do the same. Goldendale Picker's Fest first weekend in June. Sacajawea Bluegrass Festival the next, followed by Wenatchee River. Then Sister's in Oregon (can't make that one). Darrrington festival starts July15th, Columbia Gorge the next week (concurrent with the final ever String Summit). Bluegrass from the Forest in Shelton July 29 - 31. Winlock Pickersfest August 5 - 7, then Bluewaters the next week (concurrent with Mount St. Helen's in Toledo). Several more. I won't make to all of them, but I hope to hit many.

Goldendale is first on my list, too. It’ll be my first jam since I started learning mandolin last autumn. Gonna be fun!

Lots of PNW folks (I'm a new-er PNW myself - just moved here in April). If any of y'all are in / near Seattle, I'd love to pick / jam a few dual mandolin tunes

I'm hoping to attend the local ones here - I wanted to hit Greyfox, but July is way to busy with other things this year.

Just my local festival right here in town. Ossipee Valley Music Festival. I'm doing the week long string camp that kicks it off too. Good bookings this year! Sadly, it's the only one I can afford to attend this year.

Charlotte is going in Full throttle! Po Ramblin’ boys will be there, I have commitments that weekend so, I can’t be there but, some friends will be going!
As a side note, my longtime friend and banjo player for 47 years is going in for Back surgery on the 16th so, pray for success in the surgery for Rock Bartley. I’m sure many of you know him, one of the finest people I know!

Ossipee began as a bluegrass festival, but has broadened their scope through the years...that's one of the things I love about it...hardcore bluegrass fans, not so much. I believe Joe K. Walsh administers the string camp and brings in top notch instructors...it's very highly rated! If you have a financial windfall, attend the Thomas Point Beach festival in Brunswick, Me...my favorite festival for picking.
    too many strings
