    Default Four Interesting Old Bowlbacks

I think the seller ought to split them up:

    Here they are for posteriority.

Never seen soundholes quite like that before.

I enjoy the look of some Brandt bowlbacks, but I've never owned one.

To my eye they are some of the nicest looking US made mandolins.

The back on this one is very good looking, though I've never taken so well to an MOP fretboard the few times I've played one.

Felt a little odd but I suppose one might get used to it.

Nick, I wonder if you might ask Mike to move this over to the "bowlbacks of note" thread where the bowl with the muy curioso soundhole could find a contexual home?

Mick, I am more than happy for it to be moved there, as you suggest- the "bowlbacks of note" thread . If Mike can do that, that would be great. I assume I do not have to contact him directly, and he will see this comment? I am glad you appreciated them- I thought they looked interesting and worthy of comment from others.

To me, the dark-faced mandolin looks more modern than the others. When I see a huge brass tailpiece and that much bling -- I immediately think of Antonio Tsai........

    Weird bridge, also.....

The seller also has this beauty for sale. His photos are somewhat repetitive:

My files aren't real deep for US made bowlbacks so I'm drawing a blank.

The Semi-Colon Scratchplate bowlback is certainly "of note" and perhaps someone can recall seeing similar.

The bowl, headstock, and tuners look US made to me, possibly ca. 1900 or earlier.
