Default Mandolin Sheet music and breakdown: Old Joe Clark

    Hey all,

I've received a few requests to cover Old Joe Clark. This is a great tune for beginners to get down and has a lot of potential options for more advanced players. This should be part 1 of 2 for the breakdown and will focus on the basic melody and chords. Part 2 will dive deeper into the song with more options and etc. Not sure when I'll have Part 2 done but I'll post it when it's ready

Monroe's solo was basically doubling each note. The Osbourne brothers really made it more jazz-like (swingish) with passing tones. I kinda like the Ricky Scaggs version that used to be online in TEF format. Learned to play this tune from Andy Statman, who insisted I not write it down but record it, as it was an aural tradition but thanks for posting the notes. It's always great to get a new perspective on a well-played tune. The simplest tunes can really teach BG nuance. https://mandozine.com/music/search_r...rder=A&submit=
