    Default Portable reverb ideas

I’m not massively optimistic about this enquiry!

I play small dirty gigs, indoors, outdoors, obscure folk festivals, portability is key. The regular mando sounds alright through my Roland Street Cube but the octave mando in particular loses most of its charm through the amp.
    Options are:
Re-mortgage to buy a battery powered AER which may get stolen or damaged.
Refit a very expensive high end hybrid pickup system into the instrument.
(Hopefully) Find a portable pedal type device that injects some life back into the sound. Fender Preverb looks wonderful but it’s not really portable on its own. Realistically I’m going to get a bit of quack but that’s not the end of the world.

    Any ideas?

What do you have between the mandolin and the Roland Street Cube? In other words: mic, contact mic, piezo, or ??

I have a Yamaha guitar and a ukulele with built in reverb, chorus and delay. I know the ukulele electronics are available as a retrofit.

I also have a Roland AC33 amplifier with the same functions built in plus looper. All can be controlled by pedal switches but they are not necessary.

It's a dual channel for mike and guitar. It can be run on external 15 or 12 v or internal AA batteries. It delivers 30W

I also have preamplifiers, that can be carried in the belt, or

preamp with a mike for the soundhole and a lot of automatic feedback filters and sound modding.

You can get an inexpensive Behringer reverb pedal for about $25 and a tube modeling preamp for about the same and they sound pretty amazing. I use them with my harmonica mic with no issues. I run my mandolin through a ToneDexter and use the reverb on the mixer for that.

K&K twin on both, luthier installed. Like I say sounds not bad on the regular mando but Octave is a bit lacking

I’ve never been totally impressed with the clean sound of my K&K equipped GOM (into an Acoustic Image combo). I tried it through a Strymon “Iridium” pedal last week and was pleased with the results. (The Iridium is an amp simulator intended to enable an electric guitar to be plugged into a recording desk. E.G. a Twin Reverb in a pedal.)

I have an Alesis Nanover which works well for me. Used ones are well under $50. I think the quality is higher than most cheap pedals.

Move up to a Roland Cube EX. I'd bet that will take care of your problematic OM. If you're gigging out then pick up a Gator mini stand for it at the same time.

intended to make under saddle pickups sound mic'd etc., various body sizes a lot of subtle variations..
